This too shall pass
A short poem to hush your worries.
Just as the storm bends branches until they nearly break,
Yet leaves them standing—fragile, but resilient.
Just as the sun scorches skin until it burns,
Yet leaves behind the warmth of a golden glow,
This too shall pass.
Remember those moments,
Moments that shook you so fiercely you couldn’t see the end of the road,
Times when life felt bewildering and harsh,
Yet somehow you survived.
And it passed.
Now, you find yourself sinking,
The weight of sorrow pressing against your chest,
Waves crashing over you, pulling you deeper.
But even the fiercest tide must retreat.
Even the wildest storm must quiet.
Even this ache, this uncertainty, this darkness,
Shall pass.
We like to believe life moves in straight lines,
That every hardship has a reason,
That joy will last forever.
But I have walked through forests so dense I lost my way,
Crossed deserts so vast I feared I’d never reach the other side,
Stared at oceans so endless they swallowed my vision.
Yet I kept moving.
And they passed.
Every moment, whether filled with joy or sorrow,
Is but a fleeting chapter in the story of who you are.
You will ache. You will heal. You will love. You will lose.
And through it all, you will transform,
Like the moon shifting through its phases,
Like the seasons surrendering to change.
You are not meant to remain in one place forever.
You are meant to evolve, to rise after every fall,
To step into the light again.
Maybe today is painted in shadows,
But the sun is already on its way.
This will pass.
So breathe, even when it hurts.
Hold on, even when your hands shake.
And when the world feels unbearable,
Remember—nothing stays the same.
In every heartache, in every triumph, in every mundane day,
Know that nothing is permanent.
We are constantly moving, reshaping, becoming.
Whatever you are facing, whatever you are feeling,
It is only a chapter, not the whole story.
This too shall pass.
